Solar Energy at workStaffordshire Renewables Cluster - powering our future

Staffordshire is enjoying a rapid expansion in the Renewable Energy technology Sector.

The Eccleshall Biomass Project, farmer-owned fuel supply company BiEcc, and the cutting edge Talbott’s Biomass Generator, are attracting Regional, National and World Wide interest.

All of these developments have created an ideal platform on which to develop the area’s renewable energy technology sector. As a consequence, the projects have attracted support funding from Advantage West Midlands as well as the DTI and DEFRA, and significant investment from the private sector.

20% reduction in operating costs compared to LOndon and the South East Untapped labour market with engineering experience.

Government support recognises renewables’ role in energy supply. This predicted growth will need substantial investment in equipment and energy infrastructure. It presents substantial business opportunities, with scope for significant growth in employment.

UK renewables policy fits into the broader framework of the EU with a target for renewable sources accounting for 10% of UK electricity consumption by 2010. Renewable energy is a growing industry sub-sector in the West Midlands with a great deal of potential, and you can be part of it.
