ExtraCare TrainingWe recognise the vital role our people play in helping us achieve our ambitious goals and so training and development is a top priority. For example 90% of our Resident Support Workers (RSWs) are NVQ 2 qualified, against a national target of 50% and a national average of 25% within the sector. Staff are encouraged to achieve NVQ 3 and some of our managers started with us as RSWs. We have been accredited as an Investor in People for over 10 years.

We take our inspiration from best practice in other sectors – our Chefs and Housekeepers have experienced the operations at The Ritz and The Dorchester so they can see how the best work. We encourage staff to be open-minded about their development and to think outside the box – our University of ExtraCare offers funds for any courses that will benefit residents at our schemes; belly-dancing is one example!
